Cabernet Sauvignon, Ramey Cellars
In the eighth vintage of this appellation Cabernet blend, it is a combination of hillside and valley floor vineyard grapes. The style combines the harmony by traditional Bordelaise winemaking techniques with the volumptuousness gained from California's weather, especially in this perfect vintage.
Blend: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 5% Malbec and 3% Petite Verdot
I love opening the Ramey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and putting it in a decanter. I like to stick my nose close by to inhale the beautiful aromas. After about an hour in the decanter I like to pour my first glass. With the first swirl i stick my nose in the glass and get aromas of ripe fruit, floral notes and a touch of earth and spice. On the palate I get sumptuous dark fruit, a touch of tobacco with supple tannins on the mid palate. The finish is long and pleasant with a touch more tannins. This wine is well rounded, well structured and elegant, one of my favorites for special occasions.
